About Zen Shiatsu
There are different styles of Shiatsu. Liz practices Zen Shiatsu which was developed in Japan in the 20th century and is now widely practiced around the world. Each treatment is unique and works at an energetic level - based on principles of East Asian medicine and Western medicine and therapies.
In a whole body treatment the giver connects with Ki via meridians (energy pathways) & acupressure points, with their palms, thumbs and fingers, elbows, knees and feet using a variety of touch: gentle holding; subtle movements; stretches; rotations and deeper pressure

Shiatsu works by supporting Ki, a Japanese word for vital energy which flows and vibrates in our bodies to maintain internal harmony. Shiatsu does not aim to cure or treat any specific condition but by supporting Ki, Shiatsu can help our bodies to function at their best and increase our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
